Installing the Driver's License Scanner

Please note that Gate Key no longer offers driver license scanners. We will do our best to support existing installations until December 31st, 2016

Please follow the instructions below before downloading any drivers or connecting the scanner to the computer.
Installing or using any other software or drivers will cause the equipment to malfunction. Be sure you are logged onto the computer as Administrator and your are logged off as all other computer users. |

Step 1: Install Firefox

Install Firefox by clicking on Download File =>
Important: Please remove any current version of Firefox, after installing the provided version, turn off auto-update for Firefox: Tools > Advanced > Update, check Never check for updates. The scanner will only work with this version of Firefox, if Firefox is updated you will need to re-install the supplied version. |

Step 2: Download and Install Java

Install Java by clicking on Download File =>
Important: Before installing Java, remove any current version residing on the computer. After installing Java, go to Control Panel, double click on Java then Update, be sure there is no check mark next to "Check for Updates Automatically" and set Notify Me to "Before downloading". The scanner will only work with this version of Java, if Java is updated you will need to re-install the supplied version. Please note that Java represents a security risk, the Drivers License scanners are only supported on computers that are restricted to only access the Gate Key websites. |

Step 3: Download & Install DL Scanning Software

Download the scanner driver by click on the download file link =>
If you have ever had a scanner installed before, you MUST remove the existing SDK and/or Drivers first, restart the computer, then continue. Once the file is downloaded install it by double clicking on it and following all the prompts (just accept all of the default entries). A. Create a directory on guard computer: C:\CSSNGKImages B. Plug the scanner into a USB port on the back of the computer (not the front), it should take 10-30 seconds to install the driver software. C. Reboot the computer D. Start Firefox and log into GateKeyGuard.com, (this step is important) there may be prompts which ask if you want to allow a program to run, make sure you use the drop down arrow and check “always allow” or “always run”, and/or check "do not ask again" E. The program should say “attempting to connect with DL Scanner”, between 10—20 seconds the program should say “drivers license scanner now ready”. There should now be two additional Icons on the upper right hand side of the screen: “Scan DL & Search” and “Scan DL & Insert” . To test, go to a resident that you can test with, place a drivers license on the scanner and click “Scan DL & Insert”. It should populate the information into the Quick Pass fields. If there is an error turn the drivers license upside down and try again. The system saves all the DL information, including the photo. The additional information is only available in the Community Manager interface. |
Updated SDK - warning - please do a complete system backup before installing this software. This is the latest release and has not been tested in all platforms. Use at your own risk!
